Participant Pathway - Para Table Tennis
Table Tennis Australia is partnering with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and Paralympics Australia (PA) to implement strategies to increase the numbers of talented athletes with a disability entering into and then progressing through the Para Table Tennis Performance Pathway.
The TTA National Development Coordinator (Para), Kara Retford’s, key role is to establish relationships, links and projects with local / State & Territory Disability organisations / Rehabilitation centres and Club / State & Territory Table Tennis Associations with the aim of creating sustainable Para table tennis pathways.

Foundation, Talent, Elite, Mastery (FTEM) Framework
Foundations, Talent, Elite & Mastery (FTEM) is a user-friendly framework of sporting development that is representative of the “whole of sport” pathway continuum and integrates common and unique phases of development for participants at the active lifestyle, sport participation and sport excellence phases.
To assist the Para Table Tennis community with understanding the different stages of athlete development, Table Tennis Australia has developed the FTEM Framework for Para Table Tennis which aligns with the Sport Australia FTEM (Foundation, Talent, Elite and Mastery) framework - https://www.ais.gov.au/ftem.
This practical tool aims to assist personnel, coaches, teachers, parents etc. in reviewing, planning and supporting the Para Table Tennis athlete pathway.
