Yangzi Liu Wins Gold in Italy

Yangzi Liu marked her return to international competition with a stunning performance at the World Table Tennis Youth Contender event in Italy, claiming gold in the Under 19 Girls Singles after a series of clinical performances.
Liu is overseas as part of the European Tour that several Australians are undertaking. Liu recently gained Australian permanent residency and this event was her first international competition since joining the Australian National Squad last year.
Liu won eight consecutive matches against opponents from seven different countries to claim gold, underlining her credentials at international level. Her results were:

Liu’s gold comes on the back of Nicholas Lum winning gold and Finn Luu winning bronze in the Under 17 Boys Singles earlier in the week.
