Yangzi Liu Storms to Gold in Slovak Republic

Yangzi Liu was in unbeatable form overnight, winning gold in the Under 19 Girls Singles at the World Table Tennis Youth Contender event in Slovak Republic. On her way to winning the title, Liu crushed all opposition, winning six consecutive matches without the loss of a single game.

Liu’s win is her second in less than a week at World Table Tennis Youth Contender events, after winning in Italy last weekend. Liu’s victory further underlines her genuine international competitiveness and is a big positive for Australian table tennis.

Finn Luu and Nicholas Lum were back in action overnight in Hungary, with the duo notching up nine quality wins between them in the Under 19 Boys Singles event before eventually bowing out at the quarter final stage.
