TTA passes on our condolences to the family and friends of Anthony Ho from Fiji, the ITTF-Oceania President, who sadly passed away on 29 July 2021 from COVID-19.

Anthony was a lifetime table tennis person, initially as a player in Fiji where he won many national titles and represented Fiji extensively. Anthony also enjoyed multiple successes coaching Fiji at international competitions. However, it was as an administrator where Anthony made his biggest mark on the sport. Anthony became President of Fiji Table Tennis Association in the early 2000’s, where he quickly increased the quality and quantity of play in the country.

During his tenure of nearly 15 years, Fiji was a mainstay at all Oceania competitions and many Commonwealth Games, where their players won multiple medals and titles at the Pacific Games, Mini Pacific Games, Oceania Championships and Oceania Cup. Fiji athletes also reached the pinnacle by competing at the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.

Anthony also contributed with distinction on the international level, serving for nearly two decades on the ITTF Board of Directors and on the ITTF-Oceania Management Committee. Anthony became President of ITTF-Oceania in 2017 and was re-elected to the position in 2020.

Last year Anthony received one of the highest honours in Fiji by being awarded the Independence Medal at the 50th Independence Anniversary celebration, which recognised his four decades of service to table tennis and the community.

Outside of table tennis, Anthony was a successful businessman and a generous supporter of many people in need and many charities.

Table tennis has lost one of our great servants and Anthony’s contribution will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace Anthony.
