TTA Board Thanks Outgoing Director Craig Hayes
Published Tue 19 Apr 2022
Table Tennis Australia Board member Craig Hayes will conclude his time as a TTA Director at the TTA AGM which will be held in Adelaide on Saturday 23 April.
Craig was originally a high performance table tennis athlete, representing Australia at junior and youth level, before going on to establish an impressive corporate career. Craig joined the TTA Board as an Appointed Director in June 2018 before becoming an Elected Director at the 2020 TTA AGM. During his tenure, Craig has also been an active Committee member, serving on the TTA Finance, Risk & Audit Committee since its inception in October 2018 and he has been the Committee Chairperson since September 2019. Moreover, Craig also served on the TTA National Selection Panel between September 2018 to October 2020.
TTA President Graham Symons paid tribute to Craig, “Craig has been a trusted colleague and key contributor to the TTA Board over almost 4 years. As a Board Director, he has combined a strong financial brain with a cool head and an unswerving commitment to advancing Australian table tennis. Understandably, he now wishes to dedicate his time to his children’s sport and he goes with our thanks and best wishes.”
TTA CEO Scott Houston was equally complimentary of Hayes’ contribution, “Craig has been a dedicated and high performing Board and Committee member. Craig joined the TTA Board when the organisation was still very much in recovery mode; it is no coincidence that Craig’s time on the Board corresponded with TTA’s strong and sustainable recovery both on and off the table. Craig did a lot of heavy lifting and should be commended for his outstanding contribution to the TTA Board and Australian table tennis, all while working in a professional manner and with the highest ethical standards.”
Reflecting on his time on the TTA Board, Hayes commented, “It has been a pleasure to serve on the TTA Board. It has been a wonderful opportunity to give back to a sport that has given me so much. TTA is in great hands and I look forward to seeing the growth of our sport into the future.”
As a token of appreciation, the TTA Board presented Craig with a plaque in recognition of his service.
TTA wishes Craig well on the next phase of his Director career, where he has taken up the Presidency of his daughter’s swimming club.
