Thank You and Farewell Eva Jeler

Eva Jeler will conclude her role as National Coach – Performance Pathways (Able-Bodied) with TTA, with her final day being today 31 August. Eva joined TTA in January 2021 and has fulfilled her initial contract, however a lack of funding meant that unfortunately a contract extension was not possible.

Eva’s tenure at TTA has coincided with exceptional results on the international stage, with more than 20 medals being won at international competitions and multiple athletes reaching the top 10 in the world in their age group. This was capped off with Australia’s record breaking performances at the Commonwealth Games earlier this month.

TTA CEO Scott Houston paid tribute to Jeler’s contribution, “Eva had a clear mandate to ensure that Australia’s performances on the international stage improved and that the foundations were laid within Australia to ensure the next generation of players have the best chance to reach their potential. In both cases it is clear that Eva has fulfilled her duties.

“Moreover, given the work that Eva put in with our exceptionally talented crop of youngsters, Eva will leave a legacy in Australian table tennis well beyond her tenure. On behalf of TTA we thank Eva for her services and wish her well for her future endeavours.”

Reflecting on her time with TTA, Jeler commented, “After almost two years work with a wonderful group of talented and motivated young players and a great coaching team, I am grateful for having had the opportunity to be part of this group. It was a joy and honour to work with you all.

“I am very grateful for the hospitality and help I received from players, their parents, colleagues, and the TTA office and TTA team as a whole.

“I will never forget the welcome the Gerada family presented me with and the help they offered me at the beginning of my stay in Melbourne (which is by the way the coolest, best city to live in).

“A special thank you to the ever working and always available to talk or help when necessary TTA CEO, Scott Houston. I am leaving indebted to you all.

“The mentorship program that John Murphy asked me to start gave me the opportunity to share my knowledge with wonderful Australian coaches. I hope our talks and exchanges will help them in their future work, and be of benefit to TTA.

“Unfortunately, our time together was much too short, and I hope to be able to contribute to Australian table tennis in the future, which I believe to be a bright one.

“The players know what is next for them: go, go and work. Thanks to all.”

Thank you and congratulations Eva.
