Table Tennis Australia Performance App reaches final stages

With thanks to the Australian Institute of Sports (AIS) and its Infrastructure Grant Program, the Table Tennis Australia Performance App is reaching its final stages of distribution.

National Squad Athletes, National Coaches, Identified Coaches, Identified Athletes and key State & Territory representatives are due to receive access over the next weeks.

“I’m totally excited about the release and the result of the project, we’ve worked hard behind the sense to get this done,” Performance Pathway Manager Simon Gerada said.

“The first step was to develop and now it will be our job and leaders to teach our athletes and create the culture of using it daily,” Gerada added.

The app is a multifunctional application geared towards:

  • Monitoring athletes
  • Identifying athletes and coaches
  • Creating benchmarks
  • Assisting better practice and coaching
  • Increasing development and communication

Data and trends will be generated from our most successful players to ensure accurate quantification of these factors.

The data source will then be expanded to include a more comprehensive measurement of athlete development, such as skill execution, holistic athlete traits, and match performance data with sufficient measurement validity.

Whilst delivering a remote program in 2021, National Coaching and Officiating Coordinator Franck Roguiez supported by Jake Duffy, have played an integral role in linking the TTA philosophy with State and Territory coaches and athletes.

“We’ve delivered sessions and support weekly right across the Australian network with success and the app is the next step and evolution of the TTA online program,” Franck said.

Efficiency, communication and knowledge sharing are among the key areas that Franck and the TTA Pathway Team look forward to building on in 2022 with the distribution and use of the TTA Performance App.

Whilst the app can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play, it is not available to the general public. Only National Squad Members along with Identification and Hopes Camp registrants will all receive access.
