Simon Gerada Appointed as National Performance Pathway Manager (Able-Bodied)
Published Thu 02 Jul 2020
TTA is pleased to announce that Simon Gerada has been appointed as National Performance Pathways Manager (Able-Bodied). Through the role Simon will be responsible for:
• leading the delivery of building a sustainable performance pathway to successfully identify, develop, support and progress talented athletes to achieve future medal winning performances.
• contributing to TTA’s ability to meet our able-bodied high performance goals and objectives at junior and senior level.
• helping to drive the daily training environment at a national and State/Territory level.
• assisting with National Team coaching duties at continental and international competitions.
• linking closely with all National Squad Members and having ongoing collaboration with State/Territory Associations.
Since the beginning of this year, Gerada has been working with TTA as National Coach – Performance Pathway (Able-Bodied) and this new role is a natural progression for him.
TTA CEO Scott Houston commented, ‘Simon has made an immediate impact since joining TTA. He has strengthened relationships with key stakeholders including the AIS and State/Territory Associations, has increased training opportunities for the National Squad and National Hopes Squad and has been instrumental in developing our able-bodied high performance plans for the future’.
Houston went on to say, ‘Simon is very well credentialed for this role given his vast knowledge and experience as a player, coach and administrator over nearly 30 years. Moreover, his passion for the sport and desire to see table tennis continue to improve in Australia is second to none. I look forward to seeing our able-bodied high performance program continue its upward trajectory in the coming months and years’.
Gerada will commence in the role immediately and TTA will provide an update in the near future around plans for Gerada’s former role.
Congratulations Simon!
NOTE: Simon Gerada has a declared Conflict of Interest in relation to Health, Wellness & Table Tennis and LOOPS Table Tennis. This has been handled and will continue to be handled in accordance with the TTA Conflict of Interest processes and procedures.
