Scott Edgecombe Moves on from TTA
Published Fri 09 Aug 2019
TTA’s National Participation and Development Coordinator, Scott Edgecombe, will move on from TTA after accepting a role with local government. Edgecombe's last day at TTA will be Wednesday 21 August 2019.
Edgecombe leaves TTA after a very busy and productive 18 months, helping to transform the participation landscape for our sport and greatly contributing to a multitude of new and positive initiatives. Edgecombe commented, 'it has been particularly rewarding to lead the establishment and delivery of two new highly successful participation innovations; the National Equipment & Facilities grant program (now in its second year) and the inaugural National Volunteer Awards program, held at the ITTF World Junior Table Tennis Championships in Bendigo late last year'.
The current 2019 Equipment & Facilities grant program resulted in almost $82,000 worth of table tennis equipment and facilities projects being supported across 18 clubs and associations nationally. While the 2018 National Volunteer Awards provided a unique opportunity to celebrate the remarkable achievements of 12 individual award winners, including Dave Delpratt from Bundaberg and District Table Tennis Association, who was honoured as the very first overall National Volunteer of the Year.
Moreover, the national Sporting Schools Program has also benefitted from Edgecombe's stewardship, with TTA taking closer order of program management and engagement with schools and key stakeholders. This resulted in triple the number of anticipated TOPS Table Tennis programs being run in 2018, with Sporting Schools participation numbers on the rise again in 2019.
Edgecombe was also instrumental in revamping TTA’s national participation and membership census collection process in 2018, enabling Table Tennis participation to top 100,000 for the first time (103,465) and more than 10,500+ members to be reported by State/Territory Associations. Edgecombe commented, 'with census results for the second quarter of 2019 surging towards 80,000 participants (up from 50,000+ this time last year) and further automation of the census in the pipeline, the process will continue to grow as an influential tool to better promote table tennis inside and outside our sport'.
TTA CEO Scott Houston paid tribute to Edgecombe, 'Scott has achieved plenty in a short space of time, while working with limited resources. Although TTA is sad to see Scott leave, we are comfortable that the work he has undertaken has set up the participation area of the business for a successful future, which is a sign of a job well done. TTA and myself personally are thankful and appreciative for the work that Scott has undertaken and we wish him all the best in his next role'.
TTA is pleased to announce that Egon Loh has been appointed as the new National Participation and Development Coordinator. Loh is very well credentialled, having worked in similar roles for more than 10 years at Tennis South Australia, Volleyball South Australia and the Singapore Sports Council. Loh will commence on Thursday 15 August 2019 and receive a full handover from Edgecombe to ensure a smooth transition.
Thank you Scott and welcome aboard Egon!
