The Australian Men’s Team capped of their preparations for the ITTF World Team Cup with a highly successful training camp in Nishiwaki City, approximately 1.5 hours from Osaka in Japan. The team of Kane Townsend, Dillon Chambers and Xavier Dixon, together with Head Coach John Murphy and CEO Scott Houston make up the delegation for the trip.

The training camp in Nishiwaki City was made possible through the Agreement between Nishiwaki City and TTA, which was signed last year. Nishiwaki City will also play host to the Australian Team ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Upon completion of the training camp, Scott Houston commented, ‘the generosity and hospitality from Nishiwaki City was once again first class. TTA thoroughly appreciates the efforts the city made to host our team. TTA thanks Mayor Shozo Katayama, his Councillors and team for everything they have done for us and for their willingness to welcome us once again for this trip’.

John Murphy was equally pleased, ‘the training camp conditions were absolutely first class. We were provided with fantastic training partners, the training centre was outstanding and it was great to have members of the public come to watch us train. I certainly look forward to bringing the Australian team back to Nishiwaki City again ahead of the 2020 Olympic Games’.

The Men’s Team now heads to Tokyo, where the ITTF World Team Cup will be held from 6-10 November.
