Melissa Tapper wins Arthur Wilks Trophy as Para Athlete of the Year

TTA is pleased to announce that Melissa Tapper has been named as the Arthur Wilks Trophy winner as the National Para Athlete of the Year for 2017/18. The timeframe in question runs from after the 2017 National Para Championships to after the 2018 National Para Championships. 

Melissa was the standout candidate for the award, evidenced by: 

Performance Results:
-    2017 Australian National Para Champs > Gold Medal – Womens Open Standing Singles / Gold Medal - Class 9-10 Womens Singles / Gold Medal – Womens Open Doubles
-    2017 Oceania Para Regionals > Gold Medal – Class 10 Womens Singles
-    2017 Korea Para Open > Gold Medal – Class 10 Womens Singles / Bronze Medal – Class 10 Womens Teams
-    2018 Commonwealth Games > Gold Medal – Class 6-10 Womens Singles

Athlete Qualities > Melissa always displays all of the listed qualities below every time she competes:
-    sportsmanship, characterised by modesty in victory, cheerfulness in defeat, and, in particular, table etiquette;
-    appearance, by which is meant clean playing attire kept at a uniformly high standard throughout the year;
-    punctuality, co-operation with table tennis officials and knowledge of the laws of the sport.
