Manly West Hits The Courts

Students from Manly West State School are hitting the courts weekly with a new table tennis program.

As part of the federally funded Sporting Schools program the children are visiting Wynnum Table Tennis Association for on-court Term 2 sessions.

Association Coaching Director Franck Roguiez has been delivering a fun and interactive Tops program which he hopes encourages children into regular participation in table tennis.

Roguiez is a highly experienced junior coach who hails from the Levallois club in France.

As a Sporting Schools coach, Roguiez relishes the opportunity to engage with local schools and showcase table tennis.

“It’s a great opportunity for the Manly West State School kids to get to play on quality tables at a purpose built venue”, Roguiez said.

“Last year I had conducted a program at the school and the response from Manly West was outstanding”.

“At the completion of this term’s program I will be encouraging the youngsters to attend our Saturday beginners program”.

Monique, a Year 6 student from Manly West State School, was excited to be part of the weekly visits to the club.

“Franck taught us so much this term. I learnt a lot and enjoyed it too”, Monique said.

Roguiez has also delivered introductory table tennis programs at Hilliard State School and Manly State School as part of Sporting Schools.
