Lum Wins Gold, Luu Claims bronze in Italy

Rising Australian stars Nicholas Lum and Finn Luu have announced their return to international competition with a bang. Competing at the World Table Tennis Youth Contender event in Lignano, Italy, the duo looked at home on the first leg of their European Tour with Lum winning gold and Luu claiming bronze in the Under 17 Boys Singles.

On his way to victory, Lum won seven consecutive matches including defeating players from Croatia, Italy, England, Czech Republic, Austria and Nigeria. The win marked Lum’s first tournament victory at World Table Tennis Youth level, having previously won multiple silver and bronze medals in recent years.

Luu also recorded five strong victories before narrowly losing in five games the semi final.

Lum and Luu will be back on the table today in the Main Draw of the Under 19 Boys Singles. Yangzi Liu will also hit the court in the coming days in the Under 19 Girls Singles.
