Latrobe Leisure Churchill to Host 2019 National Senior and Youth Championships
Published Fri 07 Sep 2018
TTA is pleased to announce that the 2019 National Senior and Youth Championships will be held from 8th-13th April in Churchill, in Latrobe City, approx. two hours from Melbourne. Latrobe Leisure Churchill will be the host venue.
TTA is taking a new direction with all four National Championships from 2019 onwards, which will assist in standardising and streamlining operations and presenting events to the highest possible standard and we look forward to showcasing our premier national event in regional Victoria.
TTA is grateful for the generous support provided by Latrobe City Council that enabled the event to be brought to the region.
Latrobe City Council’s mayor, Councillor Darrell White, said Latrobe City was rapidly becoming the regional ‘go-to’ sports and major events destination.
“Our quality facilities, our expert events team and our sports-loving community are all key attractors for sports events organisers looking for venues outside of Melbourne. We have a deservedly strong reputation in this field, and we are delighted to add these Table Tennis Australia championships to the growing list of sports events hosted at Latrobe City.
“As a Council, we welcome the obvious economic impact that major events like these bring to our retailers and accommodation providers; however, we also look at these events in terms of community pride, community participation and inspiration to our aspiring athletes. Being able to watch elite athletes play, on ‘home ground’, is a significant boost to the motivation of local sports people to realise their full potential in their chosen sport".
The Prospectus, Entry Forms and other information will be distributed in due course.
In another coup for our national events, Bev and Brian James have agreed to come on board to assist with delivering all four national championships. Bev and Brian have played a lead role in running the National Veterans Championships for more than 25 years and have worked at multiple other international events including the 2000 Olympic Games and the 2014 World Veterans Championships and they’ll bring a wealth of experience and professionalism with them.
