ITTF Oceania Cup Selection Announcement

Table Tennis Australia are pleased to announce the official selections for the 2025 ITTF Oceania Cup to be played in Melbourne on 15-16th February 2025.

Women: Yangzi Liu and Min Hyung Jee
Men: Nicholas Lum and Finn Luu

The ITTF-Oceania Cup is a pinnacle event for our region with only eight men and eight women competing and the requirement for Table Tennis Australia to select players for this tournament came as an unexpected change by ITTF Oceania, who previously have been responsible for the selections. 

With no set framework or policy in place for this event selection, the TTA National Selection Panel, for consistency, opted to follow the process and method historically adopted by the ITTF Oceania; which is to use the World Rankings List published on 12 November. 

Whilst we understand the World Rankings have changed since this time, the National Selection Panel felt that it was important for TTA to follow precedent on this occasion and use the process set out by the ITTF Oceania for selections in previous years.  

As you are aware our High-Performance Able Body Program is undergoing an extensive review. The review will be completed by the end of December 2024, after which TTA will have a clear framework and transparent process in place for any future selections of this nature amongst a range of other changes for the program. The findings of the review will be shared in early 2025.
