ITTF Mixed Team World Cup Selection Announcement
Published Wed 09 Oct 2024
Table Tennis Australia are pleased to officially announce the selection of athletes who will represent Australia at the ITTF Mixed World Team Cup Event, being held in Chengdu, China from 1st to 8th December 2024.
Following a thorough selection process guided by our official National Selection Policy, specifically clause 46 to ensure transparency and fairness, the selected athletes have demonstrated the performance and skill required for this prestigious tournament.
The National Selection Policy mandates that selections be based on a combination of criteria such as but not limited to recent performance, player rankings, and results in key competitions.
In making their official selections, the national selection panel carefully considered a range of factors including individual performances, teamwork, consistency in national and international competitions, and the ability to thrive in high-pressure situations.
Countries qualify for the Mixed World Team Cup via a mix of World Ranking and Continental quotas, this year Australia was allocated the single Continental quota place for Oceania.
Debuting in 2023, this is the second time the ITTF Mixed Team World Cup is being held. The 16-team event is played in an innovative format, whereby the winner is the first team to eight (8) games. Each match is played over three games, and the team result is an accumulation of all games.
Our selections reflect a balance between experience and emerging talent, with each player bringing their unique strengths to the team. We believe the team selected has the potential to compete at the highest level, and we are excited to see them in action as they represent Australia.
Table Tennis Australia extends their congratulations to the selected athletes.
