Graham Symons Elected to ITTF Executive Committee as a Vice President
Published Thu 25 Nov 2021
TTA proudly announces that TTA President Graham Symons has been elected to the ITTF Executive Committee as a Vice President, with the election taking place at the ITTF AGM overnight in Houston, USA. Graham is one of only 11 people worldwide on the ITTF Executive Committee, all of whom will serve a four year term.
Graham’s election campaign focused on three key pillars – unity, transparency, and results focused. These pillars, combined with Graham’s skills, knowledge and more than 50 years experience in table tennis resonated with the ITTF members. Graham's role in TTA's significant and sustainable turnaround over the past four years was also acknowledged by the voters.
Graham is the first Australian to hold this prestigious position since TTA Life Member and TTA Hall of Fame Member Neil Harwood OAM, who served in the role from 2005-2013.
The new ITTF Executive Committee comprises: Petra Sorling (Sweden) – President, Wahid Oshodi (Nigeria), Liu Guoliang (China), Alaor Azevedo (Brazil), Khalil Al-Mohannadi (Qatar), Alaa Meshref (Egypt), Masahiro Maehara (Japan), Roland Natran (Hungary), Graham Symons (Australia), Ryu Seung Min (Korea) – Appointed IOC Member, Zoran Primorac (Croatia) – Appointed ITTF Athletes Commission Member.
Under the leadership of the first ever female ITTF President, Petra Sorling, the ITTF Executive Committee will no doubt be looking to hit the ground running as they work with the ITTF staff, Continental Federations, National Associations and all stakeholders to ensure ITTF recovers from COVID-19 and that the ITTF Strategic Plan is delivered.
Congratulations Graham, no doubt you will serve ITTF with distinction, just as you have and will continue to do for TTA.
