Girls' Spinneroos is coming to Port Sorell Table Tennis Club

Published Fri 22 Oct 2021

Coach Christa Foulis is excited about bringing the Girls Spinneroos program to Port Sorell Table Tennis Club (PSTTC) this spring.

Foulis is one of the coaches participating in Table Tennis Australia’s My Gender My Strength initiative and will be delivering the first ever PSTTC Girls Spinneroos program thanks to the funds made available by the International Table Tennis Federation, starting on October 26.

Spinneroos is an entry-level program for children under the ages of 12, originally launched in Term 1, 2020. It’s an amazing opportunity for kids to learn the basics of table tennis, get active, have fun and create special memories along with their young Spinneroos mates.

Foulis hopes that the skills children will learn from the program will translate into their everyday lives as well.

“I am excited to be working with the Girls Spinneroos program, especially for what it can do for young girls' confidence. It will also teach them quick reflexes, patience, and to be calm in their decision making,” she said.

The Spinneroos program is designed to create a fun and engaging environment where children have the freedom to express themselves, laugh and be active. Foulis said it is a privilege to be a part of Table Tennis Australia’s My Gender My Strength initiative and hopes to keep learning from other people involved in the sport.

“I have learnt a lot from my husband Graeme who also coaches at PSTTC. We learn a lot from each other and it is really gratifying.

“We have also had a lot of support from the local community and I am really looking forward to contributing to the table tennis community through the Girls Spinneroos program,” she said.

The Girls Spinneroos program at PSTTC begins on Tuesday 26 October. Places are limited and are expected to fill up fast, so click here to find out more and secure your child’s place.
