Day 3 Wrap – Team Events Starting To Take Shape

The Women’s Team event saw plenty of tight matches today. The match of the day was held between Victoria and Queensland where Victoria held on for a hard fought 3-2 win. Min Hyung Jee was Queensland’s star claiming outstanding wins over Melissa Tapper and Miao Miao. NSW stamped their authority over NSW C with a 5-0 win while Victoria B came back from 0-2 to overrun NSW B 3-2.
In the Men’s Teams the top seeds from each pool continue to dominate with Victoria undefeated in Pool A and NSW undefeated in Pool B. Highlights from today included Paralympic silver medallist South Australia’s Sam von Einem knocking off Queensland’s Benjamin Gould in a tight 3-2 tussle, Paul Glessenbury from South Australia B winning all the crucial points to take down Jesse Bricknell from Presidents in four games and then backing it up with a 3-0 win against Ben Houghton from Queensland C later in the day, plus Michael Mastromonaco from Victoria C claiming likely a career best victory over NSW’s Trent Carter.
In the Under 21 Women’s Teams one round of matches were held today. Western Australia made light work of South Australia B with a 5-0 victory, Victoria B pulled off a stunning 5-0 upset over top seeds NSW and South Australia claimed their first victory with a 4-1 win over Victoria. Standout performances came from Parleen Kaur and Mingxuan Nie from Victoria as they remained undefeated against Antonia Zhang and Katherine Li from NSW. Additionally Sally Du from South Australia claimed two wins against Ellen Walker and Mackenzie Gardner from Victoria.
Two rounds of Under 21 Men’s Teams took place today. NSW, NSW B and NSW C are looking good to claim each step of the podium as they’re the only remaining undefeated teams while Queensland are snapping at their heels. Top performances today came from Raymond Zhang from Presidents who claimed a career best victory over Noah Kim from NSW, plus Khuslen Otgontugs from NSW B who toppled both Hayden Green and Matthew Pettett in his match against Queensland.
