Chista Foulis selected in the 2023 ITTF My Gender My Strength Women's Development Program
Published Fri 04 Aug 2023
TTA is pleased to announce that Australian Coach Christa Foulis has been selected to participate in ITTF's My Gender My Strength Coach Development Program.
The 2023 My Gender My Strength Women's Development Project is aimed at enhancing and advancing women’s participation in table tennis by supporting ambitious and active female coaches in pursuing their coaching career to the next level and thus to contribute to the table tennis development in their Member Associations.
Christa's qualifications, commitment and passion for the sport earned her a precious place in the program. In her role as the President of Port Sorell Table Tennis Club, Christa has led several initiatives to create opportunities for women and girls in their local community and achieve a 50:50 gender split at the club.
She was one of the 5 Australian coaches to be selected in the 2021 edition of ITTF's My Gender My Strength Program and is also an active member of the TTA Women and Girls in Table Tennis Working Group.
On her selection, Christa said "Firstly, thank you for deeming me a suitable candidate for this unique and exciting opportunity; I am deeply honoured. Developing women and girls in Table Tennis to encourage both participation and performance has been a passion of mine since I started playing Table Tennis. I feel compelled to share the joys and benefits of the sport with as many women and girls as possible and this development opportunity will empower me to do more of this, and do it better. I can't wait!"
The ITTF My Gender My Strength Program strengthens Table Tennis' identity as a tool for female empowerment and gender equity in sport.
TTA National Participation & Development Coordinator Anshul Thakran said, "This is a fantastic opportunity for both Christa and TTA. ITTF offers extensive support through the MGMS program in terms of education, funding and mentorship which will be beneficial to Christa's coaching career. She is an ideal candidate to represent, inspire and pave the way for current and aspiring female coaches in Australian Table Tennis."
Congratulations Christa on your selection, and all the best for the program!
