Applications Open - Independent Chairperson of the National Selection Panel

The TTA Board recently approved a new National Selection Policy. Part of the Policy requires a new National Selection Panel to be formed, comprised of an Independent Chairperson, the relevant National Head Coach (Able-Bodied or Para) whose National Squad or National Team or any other decision impacting athletes under their responsibility is being decided, and a TTA Board Member.

As such, TTA are now calling for applications for the position of Independent Chairperson of the National Selection Panel.

The National Selection Panel has the following responsibilities: 
a)    select athletes into the National Squad in accordance with the National Squad Selection Guidelines;
b)    select athletes into the National Team in accordance with the National Team Selection Guidelines;
c)    provide, upon reasonable request, reasons for non-selection of an athlete (as per the TTA Appeals Policy);
d)    determine the TTA National Rankings List in accordance with the National Rankings Regulations;
e)    determine seedings for all National Championships, Qualification Tournaments (e.g. Olympic Qualification Tournament, Commonwealth Games Qualification Tournament etc.) and any other relevant National event in accordance with the relevant tournament Regulations;
f)    determine whether to endorse athletes for visa support letters in accordance with the TTA Visa Support Policy;
g)    select the relevant Player of the Year Award recipients in accordance with the TTA National Awards Regulation; and
h)    perform other duties as requested by the TTA Board from time to time.

The Independent Chairperson has the following responsibilities: 
a)    ensure correct processes are adhered to as per the governing policies and documents for each decision that is made;
b)    as necessary, convene meetings either face-to-face or via teleconference or through correspondence to best effectuate the NSP functions;
c)    ensure the NSP have access to detailed results from all relevant events, including overseas results, which may be required by the NSP to carry out their functions; and
d)    ensure that decisions of the NSP are forwarded to the TTA Board and CEO for their information.

To apply for the position of Independent Chairperson of the National Selection Panel, you must:
1)    be able to demonstrate experience as a high performance athlete and/or coach;
2)    be able to interpret the National Selection Policy and related documents and make decisions accordingly;
3)    be independent, i.e. not directly linked to any players or coaches, and not hold any official positions within State and Territory Associations, TTA, ITTF-Oceania or ITTF.
