Aditya Sareen Dominates 2022 TTA Tour - Melbourne

Published Mon 18 Apr 2022

Before the 2022 TTA Tour – Melbourne event, Aditya Sareen was not a name that most Australian table tennis fans would have been familiar with. However, this is sure to change following an impressive display in his first appearance in Australia.

Sareen was born in Victoria and is an Australian citizen, however he has been living in USA in recent years due to his family’s work commitments. His father Rahul was a strong player and previously competed in the Australian National Championships. Sareen has rapidly improved since taking up table tennis as an 8 year old and has recorded a string of noteworthy victories overseas. Sareen and his family have decided to move back to Australia and the 13 year old is determined to chase a career in the green and gold.

On the weekend of 16-17 April at Croydon & Districts Table Tennis Association, Sareen remained undefeated at the 2022 TTA Tour – Melbourne. He won 25 consecutive matches on his way to claiming a maximum 4 gold medals in Under 21, Under 19, Under 17 and Under 15 Men’s/Boys’ Singles.

Reflecting on his performances, Sareen commented "Coming back to Australia, I didn't know what to expect. With a warm welcoming from the people at Croydon, my first impressions are great. Everybody is very friendly and it is a warm hearted and welcoming society in general. I would like to thank all the organisers, coaches and former players who helped me prepare for this amazing tournament and experience! It was very enjoyable and I appreciate all the support."

Sareen's next assignments in Australia are the Victorian Open this coming weekend and at the National Championships in July.

TTA congratulates Aditya on his performances at the 2022 TTA Tour – Melbourne.
