Table tennis is Irwan Budiarto's life and passion.

His love for the sport has seen the West Australian found Hot Shots Table Tennis Club, which recently became an affiliate of Table Tennis Western Australia.

“My goal as a coach is to promote table tennis and recruit new players especially juniors,” Budiarto said.

“Table tennis is a sport for everyone and I feel responsible to introduce, promote and teach table tennis to everyone.

“My mission running this club is to support Table Tennis Western Australia (TTWA) as a State body and be part of one big table tennis community in Western Australia,” Budiarto said.

Having started playing table tennis 34 years ago at the age of 11, where he played competitively in Indonesia representing his district. Upon immigrating to Australia, he’s been playing in pennants, state tournaments and national veterans in Western Australia since 2000.

After running a successful Church Community Club, Budiarto decided he needed a bigger, more central venue for his growing table tennis community. That’s when he established Hot Shots Table Tennis Club in East Victoria Park suburb, just southeast of the Perth CBD.

The club, which is run by Budiarto’s family including his wife Claudia and daughter Jacqueline - a junior State player, offers its 90 members an array of programs whether it is Social Play and Group Coaching on a Tuesday or Saturday to weekly Club Tournament on a Saturday.

There is something for everyone at Hot Shot Table Tennis Club.

“They love our programs and activities in the club sessions including group and private coaching, also the different club tournaments once a week gives them the motivation to learn and improve their skill as well as gain experience by playing in a competition,” Budiarto said.

“Members love to be treated with respect and want to feel like they are, so we make sure to look after our club members,” he said.

Budiarto also has big plans for Hot Shots with his Open Tournament, Hot Shots Open Challenge already come to life and a special tournament at the end of the year for their juniors is also on the cards.

Table Tennis Australia is delighted to have a new affiliate joining the table tennis community at the start of 2022 and looks forward to further developing and growing club participation through supporting new clubs and associations to affiliate with their state/territory representative bodies.
