The 2022 National Events Calendar was approved at the 3 November 2021 TTA Board meeting. After COVID-19 decimated national events in 2020 and 2021, TTA are looking forward to play resuming in 2022 with a full suite of national events on offer.

TTA CEO Scott Houston was upbeat with the announcement, commenting “after so many difficulties and disappointments over the past two years, I am really pleased to see light at the end of the tunnel. With commitments to opening up borders continuing to be implemented across Australia, we fully expect national events to resume in their entirety in 2022, which is ideal for players, coaches, officials, volunteers and supporters.

“The combined format of the National Senior, Youth, Junior & Para Championships has been maintained, and the usual mainstays of the National Veterans Championships and the National Hopes Week are locked in once again. On top of that the TTA Tour will expand to four events and the Australian Qualification Tournament for the 2022 Commonwealth Games will be hotly contested.

“Pleasingly, national events will be played in six States/Territories throughout the year, which provides a wide range of opportunities. It is foreseeable that more than 1,500 entries from all States/Territories will be received across the age range of Under 11’s through to Over 85’s. This proves that table tennis is a sport for and a sport for life”.

Further details will be provided in due course for all events. Spread the word, national table tennis events are coming back!
