TTA is pleased to announce that the dates and venues for all 2021 National Championships were approved at the TTA Board Meeting held on 10 September 2020, as follows:

2021 National Senior, Youth, Junior & Para Championships

  • Venue: Caloundra Indoor Stadium, Sunshine Coast
  • Dates: Friday 2 July to Sunday 11 July

TTA has formed an agreement with the Sunshine Coast Council to bring the event to the region. TTA CEO, Scott Houston, was excited with the announcement, “after the unfortunate cancellation of all National Championships in 2020, TTA is looking forward to showcasing our premier athletes on the Sunshine Coast next July. Caloundra Indoor Stadium is a tried and trusted venue for TTA national events and the favourable climate the Sunshine Coast provides mid-year is an added bonus. TTA appreciates the willingness of the Sunshine Coast Council to bring the event to the region in what will be the final competition before the rescheduled Olympic Games and Paralympic Games”.

Sunshine Coast Council Mayor, Mark Jamieson, said hosting the National Championships on the Sunshine Coast continued to reinforce the region’s reputation as a leading location for national competition sport events.

“We look forward to welcoming Australia’s top table tennis athletes, including Olympians, Paralympians, Commonwealth Games champions, plus Oceania champions expected to attend this event in preparation for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“TTA considered several interstate locations to stage the championships, and after a competitive selection process, our destination shone through.

“The Sunshine Coast is the perfect location for this event and we have demonstrated that we can host events of this nature safely and in compliance with COVID-19 requirements, which may still be in play next year.

“Events are an important part of our economic recovery, providing the opportunity for our tourism and event industry suppliers to bounce back,” Mayor Jamieson said.

Economy Portfolio Councillor Terry Landsberg said he was excited to welcome TTA and add the 2021 National Championships to the calendar of major events for the Sunshine Coast.

“Hosting the 2021 National Senior, Youth, Junior & Para Championships, the premier national event on TTA’s calendar, at the Caloundra Indoor Stadium is testament to the venue’s reputation for hosting elite sports.

“The stadium will be set up for more than 60 events across the duration of the championships, and subject to COVID-19 conditions at the time, we look forward to welcoming competitors from every Australian State/Territory and New Zealand,” Cr Landsberg said.

2021 National Hopes Week & Challenge

  • Venue: LOOPS Table Tennis, Melbourne
  • Dates: Monday 12 April to Friday 16 April

TTA CEO, Scott Houston, commented, “the 2021 National Hopes Week & Challenge is a crucial first step on the high performance pathway, with multiple athletes using the event as a springboard to future success at junior and senior level in recent years. Melbourne and Victoria have been hurting with COVID-19 closures in recent months, however with the situation steadily improving TTA is hopeful the event will provide youngsters from all over Australia with something to look forward to. TTA has decided to hold the event in April instead of the customary January, providing additional time for the COVID-19 recovery to take shape”.

2021 National Veterans Championships

  • Venue: Northern Territory Netball Stadium, Darwin
  • Dates: Saturday 9 October to Saturday 16 October
