Qualifications
Working with Children Checks
All accreditations require the member to have and maintain a current Working with Children Check (or State equivalent) for the duration. Unless you already have one, we highly recommend you apply for a WWCC before or as you sign up for a Coaching Course. Accreditations will not be processed until the WWCC has been received by your State body.
TOPS Coach (Entry Level)
The TOPS Coaching qualification is designed to educate coaches in the basic skills of table tennis, as well as the concepts of group management, organisation, activity safety and creating an enjoyable training environment.
The course is directed towards teachers, parents and new coaches who are involved in entry-level programs such as Spinneroos and Sporting Schools.
Course Requirements
1. Complete TTA TOPS Table Tennis Course (1 Day)
2. Achieve competency in all 3 Assessment Tools

Tool 2 - Basic Techniques & Multiball - Practical - In-Course Assessment

Tool 3 - Coaching Session - Practical - In-Course Assessment
3. Be a current participant or life member of TTA

Level 1
The Level 1 Coaching qualification is designed to educate coaches in the basic and advanced skills of table tennis, as well as general coaching principles.
The course is directed towards coaches and players who are looking to coach junior development programs at club level.
Course Requirements
1. Qualified as a TTA Level 0 TOPS Coach
2. Complete TTA Level 1 Table Tennis Course (2 Days)
3. Competency in all 5 Assessment Tools;
- Tool 1 - Community Coaching Essential Skills - Pre-Course Assessment
- Tool 2 - Session Planning - In or Post-Course Assessment
- Tool 3 - Practical Coaching - Sessions - Post-Course Assessment
- Tool 4 - Practical Coaching - Skill Techniques & Multiball - In or Post-Course Assessment
- Tool 5 - Written Exam - In-Course Assessment
4. Coaching practice completed;
- 10 hours supervised by an Accredited Level 2 or 3 Coach & documented
- 20 hours of additional coaching documented
5. Be a current participant or life member of TTA
6. Hold a current Working with Children Check (or State equivalent)

Level 2
The Level 2 Coaching qualification is designed to educate coaches in the advanced skills of table tennis, as well as coaching principles including inclusive coaching, periodization, and self-reflection skills. The course is directed towards the current Level 1 coach looking to progress towards high-performance coaching. Recommended for State representative coaches.
Course Requirements
1. Qualified as a TTA Level 1 Coach
2. Complete TTA Level 2 Table Tennis Course (5 Days)
3. Competency in all 6 Assessment Tools;
- Tool 1 - Post Course Assessment - Self-Reflection Report
- Tool 2 - Post Course Assessment - Advanced Techniques & Multiball
- Tool 3 - In Course Assessment - Advanced Session Planning
- Tool 4 - In Course Assessment - Practical Coaching Session
- Tool 5 - In Course Assessment - Inclusive Coaching
- Tool 6 - In Course Assessment - Periodisation Planning
4 . Coaching Practise completed.
- 10 hours supervised by an Accredited Level 2 or 3 Coach & documented
- 30 hours of additional coaching documented
5. Be a current participant or life member of TTA
6. Hold a current Working with Children Check (or State equivalent)

Level 3
The Level 3 Coaching qualification course is directed towards experienced, high-performance Level 2 coaches who intend to coach at a national and international level.
Course Requirements
1. Qualified as a TTA Level 2 Coach
2. Complete TTA Level 3 Table Tennis Course (6 Hours)
3. Complete and provide evidence of five requirements
- Mentor Report
- Self-Reflection Report
- Provide written evidence of the implementation and review of a periodized plan
- Provide written evidence of the effectiveness of the periodized plan including training plans, testimonials from players, and the number of nationally ranked players
- Provide evidence of completion of 4 units from the list of optional ASC Intermediate Coaching General Principles units below:
- Nutrition for Sport / Anti-Doping in Sport / Basic Anatomy & Biomechanics / Sports Safety / Sport Psychology / Skill Acquisition
4. Coaching practice completed
- International coaching experience with National Teams during at least 1 event
- Development coaching at the National Training Camp for a minimum of 5 days
- Development coaching of 10 hours under the supervision of an approved Mentor
5. Be a current participant or life member of TTA
6. Hold a current Working with Children Check (or State equivalent)
How do I register for a course?
All coaching courses are run by your local State/ Territory Association. Once you have completed the above criteria you must give your evidence to your State / Territory coaching representative for approval, who will then pass the information on to Table Tennis Australia for processing.
