Table Tennis is an Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games sport that is enjoyed by all age groups of the community from Juniors through to Veterans competitors. The sport is played in all States/Territories throughout Australia.
Table Tennis Australia is the National Sporting Organisation for the sport of table tennis in Australia and is affiliated with both the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF), who are responsible for the sport at the international level, and ITTF-Oceania, who are responsible for the sport at the continental level.
Table Tennis Australia's purpose in accordance with its 2023-2025 Strategic Plan is:
"For the Australian table tennis community to collectively get more Australians engaging with table tennis in more ways, more places, and more often".

Table Tennis Australia is responsible for:
- Implementing a best practice governance model to suit the sport
- Increasing the membership of Table Tennis
- Producing internationally competitive athletes
- Producing international level coaches and technical officials
- Maintaining strategic partnerships and alliances
- Increasing the profile of Table Tennis
