Doubles and Mixed Doubles events will be played in the different age groups. The National Coaches will determine all entries and advise all players at a later point in time.

The selection process was guided by the official National Selection Policy, specifically clause 46, ensuring transparency and fairness. This policy mandates that selections be based on a combination of criteria such as but not limited to recent performance, player rankings, and results in key competitions.

While the ITTF pathway uses the recent Junior Oceania Event held at Loops in Melbourne as a qualifier for the World Youth Championships, it is important to note the event qualifies the quota places for each country NOT individual players. As per the World Youth Championship’s Qualification System it is the sport’s National Body’s discretion to then either select the top two (2) players from the qualifying event or other players based on merit and within the guidelines of the national selection policy.

The selection objective for Table Tennis Australia is to determine the players who will give Australia the greatest likelihood of competitive success in each of the specific event categories.

For the upcoming World Youth Championships, the TTA National Selection Panel has elected to select other players to fill the qualified singles spots in the U19 Boys singles event category, based on current world rankings and results data. For its determination, the panel reviewed a range of factors including recent results data, performances from competitions with comparable levels of opposition and playing formats.

Further details and results data that the NSP considered in making the decision can be found in the attachment below.

We are so proud of all our young athletes, and as they continue to hone their skills, we look forward to seeing their growth and achievements not only at the World Youth Championships but other upcoming tournaments; the future of Australian table tennis looks bright.
