Vale Ann Percy
Published Tue 14 May 2019
One of the great contributors to table tennis, particularly in South Australia, Ms. Ann Percy, sadly passed away last week.
Ann was a stalwart of table tennis administration and achieved plenty along the way. Some of her highlights include:
- Held numerous positions on the Board of Table Tennis South Australia over the last 12 years, including roles as Executive Director and Finance Director.
- During this time, Ann implemented a new accounting system and was instrumental in preparing, lodging and administrating grants, as well as building and maintaining relationships with Sport South Australia and the South Australian Government Office of Recreation and Sport.
- Actively volunteered and was a major part of junior, senior, para and veterans events, and spent many hours catering for and organising travel, accommodation and other activities to ensure the success of these events.
- Was instrumental in the administration of state and national events at both the junior and senior level.
- Besides Ann’s work at TTSA Board level, she was very involved in her local association (Houghton Table Tennis Association) for the last 40 years.
- Awarded Life Membership of the North East Hills Table Tennis Association in 2011.
- Awarded Life Membership of Table Tennis South Australia in 2016.
Last year at the TTA National Volunteer Awards, Ann's significant contribution was recognised when she was a recipient of a 25 Years of Service Award - this award honours outstanding long-term and sustained volunteer service to the sport of table tennis by an individual, for the benefit of the sport and wider community.
Although Ann preferred to stay away from the limelight, the quality and quantity of service she provided is very much recognised and appreciated.
Ann's funeral will be held this Friday 17 May at 10.00am at Harrison's Ridgehaven - 63 Golden Grove Road, Ridgehaven, South Australia, 5097.
Rest in peace Ann, you'll be missed.
